Own Correspondent: Maheshpur Battalion of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) arrested 4 gold smugglers including 2.245 kg gold and 1 private car. They were arrested at Hasadah bus stand on Kaliganj-Chuadanga road at 9 pm today, Friday (June 09). The arrested are Ebadul Molla (26), Md Mahabur Hasan (27), Riaz Kazi (21) and Sheikh Sohail Rana (35).
A captain of BGB’s Maheshpur Battalion (58 BGB) told The Crime that based on his own intelligence, a shipment of gold would be heading towards the border via the Jeevannagar-Chuadanga road for smuggling into India. Based on the information received, a special patrol team of the battalion headquarters under the leadership of the battalion commander took position on the Kaliganj-Chuadanga road. According to intelligence information, a white colored private car was crossing the Hasadah bus stand speed breaker in the evening when the BGB patrol stopped the car and brought it under the control of BGB for questioning.

Mahabur Hasan (27), father- Tamsul Molla, Riyaz Kazi (21), father- Insan Kazi all Village- Mangalpur, Post- Baradia, Police Station- Lohagara, District- Narail and Sheikh Sohail Rana (35), Father – Yar Ali, Village + Post – Khasian, Police Station – Naragati, District Narail.
During the interrogation of the arrested people, Riaz Kazi said that there are 14 gold bars under the seat of the second seat holder of the car. Then the BGB patrol was able to arrest them along with 2.245 kg of gold, 1 white colored private car and 6 mobiles.
The estimated value of seized gold is 2 crore, 24 lakh, 75 thousand, 751 taka.
The process of depositing the gold bars at the Chuadanga Treasury Office is under process by filing a case under the Prevention of Smuggling Act at the Jeevannagar police station against those arrested for illegally carrying and keeping gold for the purpose of smuggling to India.
