Sylhet Reporter: Former Minister and President of Bangladesh Workers Party Rashed Khan Menon MP stated during the Chief Guest’s speech at the Workers Party of Bangladesh’s Sylhet divisional meeting that the people of the country today are unable to provide adequate food for even two meals.Fish, meat, and eggs have become forbidden for the poor. Even the flour used to make and eat bread has risen in price.In this difficult time, we should stand by the people and demand the introduction of a full rationing system for the people of the whole country. Food for the poor and middle class should be ensured. Today is the day we have to fulfill our own demands. He claimed that the Workers Party speaks for the country’s poor.
Menon said the rally was held on Saturday afternoon in the premises of Sylhet’s central Shaheed Minar to ensure food security by reducing the price of daily essential products, including rice, pulses, and oil; to introduce a full rationing system; to prevent the increase in the price of fuel oil, including electricity and gas; and to stop corruption.
Fazle Hossain Badsha MP, general secretary of the Workers Party, spoke as the main speaker in the rally under the chairmanship of Workers Party District Branch President Sikandar Ali. Habiganj District Workers Party President Md. Jalal Uddin, General Secretary Professor Shafiqul Islam, Moulvibazar District Committee Secretary Tapos Ghosh, Sunamganj District Convener ATM Coys, Bangladesh Jubo Maitri Central Organizing Secretary Alamgir Hossain Rumel, and Bangladesh Student Friendship Central Vice President Masud Rana Chowdhury
Ajit Debnath, Muhitosh Chowdhury Prasad, Kazi Alfaz Hossain, Abdullah Khokon, Ruhul Amin, Swapan Das, Apu Tarafdar, Saleh Ahmed, Vijay Karim, Margh Debnath, Rabiul Islam, and Nazrul Islam were present. The party’s Central Politburo leaders were also present.
