Dhaka Bureau: BNP’s Dhaka division mass rally has started at Golapbagh ground in the capital. On Saturday (December 10) the gathering started with recitation of the Quran at 10:20 am. So far BNP Standing Committee Member Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, Chairperson Advisor Zainul Abedin Farooq, BNP Joint Secretary General Habibun Nabi Khan Sohail, Moazzem Hossain Alal, former Rajshahi Mayor Mizanur Rahman Minu, Chhatra Dal President Kazi Rawnukul Hasan Shraban and many others are on the stage of the rally. Former Chhatra Dal president Azizul Bari Helal is conducting the program.
It has been seen on the ground that lakhs of BNP leaders and workers have taken positions around the rally in and around the Golapbag field. Golapbag field was full last night. Leaders and workers are still coming there with piecemeal processions from different areas.
Although the rally was held in Dhaka division, the leaders and activists came from different districts of the country. Leaders and activists were seen entering the rally venue with piecemeal processions from different units of the capital. Various slogans and party and patriotic songs are being played on the mic to energize the leaders and workers coming to the rally.
Earlier in the nine divisional gatherings of BNP, chairs of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia and Acting Chairman Tarek Rahman were seen separated on the stage with pictures. But it was not seen on the rally stage of Dhaka. A huge LED screen has been placed in front of the main stage.
Several BNP leaders present at the rally said that after the start of the rally, there is a possibility that Tariq Rahman will address the leaders and workers through video conference. That is why the LED screen has been installed in front of the stage. However, no responsible leader of BNP agreed to confirm anything in this regard.
Farid Uddin, a BNP activist from Kishoreganj, said, I came to the rally with great difficulty. We will free Khaleda Zia and bring back the country’s democracy. The tyranny of the government has exceeded all limits. So people don’t want to see them in power anymore. We will not return home without the resignation of the government.
Juba Dal leader Salim Ahmed from Gazipur said that he managed to join the rally despite various police searches and harassment. We have to endure so much unjust torture because of politics.
After various dramas, violence and arrests, BNP got permission to hold a rally at Golapbagh ground on Friday afternoon. Since then, BNP leaders and activists started coming to the gathering place in groups.
Meanwhile, the member of the BNP standing committee held an emergency press conference on Friday. Khandkar Mosharraf Hossain said that the 10-point movement program will be announced by the party from the rally at Golapbagh field.
