Dhaka Bureau: Ali Akbar Chunnu, former central vice-president of Jatiyatavadi Jubo Dal and head of Khulna divisional team, has been arrested by the DB Police from his own office in Mohammadpur of the capital on Tuesday night, his wife has alleged.
He said that they called Chunnu from home at night and first took him to Mohammadpur office. Later they called their superiors in the DB office and asked them to go with them. DB did not say why he was picked up.
Meanwhile, BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said that Chunnu was picked up by the DB Police from his own office in Mohammadpur of the capital on Tuesday night around 8:30.
Expressing deep concern over the incident, Rizvi said, “I think the government is once again playing a death game to retain their power.” Many of our leaders and workers have already been arrested for fulfilling that wish. Following that, the former vice-president of Juba Dal, Ali Akbar Chunnu, has been picked up. Ali Akbar Chunnu was abducted in the same way as many leaders and workers of BNP were unjustly picked up and disappeared in the dark of night for dishonest reasons. Maybe he has been taken for some nefarious purpose. Rizvi demanded that Chunnu be returned to her family immediately.
