Dhaka Bureau: BNP is taking to the streets with like-minded parties in the movement to bring down the government. Most of the anti-government parties have agreed on the simultaneous movement with BNP. The party will announce 10 points including the government’s resignation in the Dhaka divisional mass meeting at Golap Bagh today. On the basis of which there will be simultaneous movement in the coming days. But what is in these 10 points?
BNP standing committee member Dr. Khandkar Mosharraf Hossain said, in the coming days we will announce how many demands or clauses for the departure of this government. BNP has already discussed with those who are ready for simultaneous movement. We hope that they will simultaneously announce the 10 points that we have formulated from their respective positions. From their respective positions, they will simultaneously come to the movement by sharpening the movement to demand these clauses in the future.
BNP Central Joint Secretary General Advocate Syed Moazzem Hossain Alal said, “The agenda will come.” The previous programs may also be there again. Along with this, there may be programs like road march, long march, location in the coming days.
According to sources, BNP held two rounds of meetings with anti-government political parties for the last five months. Among them, three rounds of meetings were held with the Democracy Forum. BNP drafted a ten point based on their opinion. This point was finalized in the virtual meeting of the standing committee last Thursday night.
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir was supposed to announce these ten points and new program. But he was arrested late on Thursday night. Then the decision of the high command meeting was made by the member of the standing committee. Khandkar Mosharraf Hossain will announce the program in the public meeting today.
Several policy makers of BNP said that they want to give a clear message to the people about BNP’s goals, demands, and what they will do if they come to power from the mass meeting in Dhaka. At the same time, a message will be given to the anti-government parties who agree on the simultaneous movement. There will be a guideline on how to take to the streets on the same issue, what will be the program. An ultimatum may also be given to the government to accept the demands along with the announcement of the programme.
The demands of 10 points are-1. Abolish the current unelected illegal national parliament and resign the powerless, democracy-depriving, thug ruling fascist government 2. Formation of a non-party electoral government / Interim Caretaker Government in the light of Article 58-B, C and D added to the Constitution in 1996 3. Abolish the current illegal Election Commission and form an independent and impartial Election Commission acceptable to all, the said Election Commission to ensure ‘level playing field’ as an inevitable prerequisite for free elections, amendment of RPO, cancellation of EVM system and provision of voting through paper ballot and party in local government elections. Abolition of use of symbols 4. Cancellation of sentence of all opposition party leaders, journalists and scholars including Khaleda Zia, withdrawal of all false cases and immediate release of political prisoners, no obstruction to meetings, gatherings and expression of opinion in the country, no interference by the administration and government parties in the independent democratic and peaceful program of all parties. Or not creating obstacles, arresting opposition party leaders and activists with the aim of stifling opposition voices in a dictatorial manner 5. Repeal of all laws that take away basic human rights including Digital Security Act-2018 and Special Powers Act-1974 6. Cancel the anti-people government decision to increase the price of public service sector including electricity, energy, gas and water 7. Bringing the price of daily necessities within the purchasing power of the common man, making the market of daily necessities free from syndicates 8. For the past 15 years, a commission has been formed to identify corruption in all areas of the state, including money laundering, banking and financial sectors, electricity and fuel sectors and stock market. 9. In the last 15 years, all missing citizens have been rescued and every case of extrajudicial killing and state torture has been speedily tried, ensuring appropriate punishment, taking punitive measures against those responsible for vandalizing houses, places of worship and property of religious minorities 10. Allow law enforcement, administration and judiciary to function independently without government interference.
