The Crime Desk: RAB has arrested Asaduzzaman Asad, the former member of Parliament of Rajshahi-3 Constituency. He was arrested from the Baridhara area of Dhaka on Sunday (October 6).
A small message from the RAB headquarters said that on July 19, students were attacked during the program of the anti-discrimination student movement. A case has been filed against this former member of parliament in that incident. He will be handed over to Boalia police station in Rajshahi.
Asaduzzaman became a member of Parliament by being elected from Rajshahi-3 (Paba-Mohanpur) constituency in the 12th National Parliament election held last January. He is the former general secretary of the Rajshahi District Awami League.
Ayen Uddin was the Member of Parliament of this constituency for two consecutive terms nominated by the Awami League in the national parliament elections held in 2014 and 2018. Awami League nominated Asaduzzaman after excluding him in the last election.
The Awami League government led by Sheikh Hasina fell on August 5 in a student uprising. After that, more than two hundred cases were filed against Sheikh Hasina. In most of the cases, apart from Sheikh Hasina, former ministers of her government, leaders of the Awami League, former IGP of police, former commissioner of the DMP, various ranks of police officers, and some former government officials have been accused.
