Dhaka Bureau: BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said that they (Awami League government) will not be given another chance like in 2018. To be clear, resign now and dissolve parliament. Organize fresh elections by setting up an Election Commission with powers in the hands of the caretaker government.
He said these things at a farmers’ rally in front of the Nayapaltan party’s central office in the capital on Friday (November 18) around 4 pm.
Mirza Fakhrul said that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has commented that she should leave the power. There is still time to exit safely. If not, there is no escape.
He also said that farmers organized a rally to demand reduction in prices of agricultural inputs including fertilisers, seeds, diesel and pesticides and the release of Khaleda Zia and withdrawal of false cases against Tariq Rahman.
BNP Secretary General said that the current ruling Awami League government has broken the back of the farmers in a very planned way. Farmers do not get fair price for their produce. Diesel price has increased 50 times. Electricity price has increased 10 times. So now where will the farmers go? Therefore, Sheikh Hasina must be removed from power.
Under the chairmanship of Hasan Zarif Tuhin, the central president of Krishak Dal and Shahidul Islam Babul, the general secretary of the organization, BNP Vice Chairman Shamsuzzaman Dudu, BNP Central Leader Abdus Salam, Khairul Kabir Khokon, Fazlul Haque Milan, Aminul Haque, Tabith Awal, Ishraq Hossain and many others spoke in the rally.
