Dhaka Bureau: General Secretary of the Awami League and Minister of Road Transport and Bridges, Obaidul Quader, said that the schedule of national elections will be in the middle of November or earlier. And the election will be held in the first week of January.
He made this comment at a discussion meeting organized on the occasion of National Safe Road Day at the Osmani Auditorium in the capital on Sunday (October 22).
Regarding the demand to change various laws related to the road, he said, What time is there to change the law? To wait till January. Whoever comes to the polls in January can consider additions, subtractions, and amendments. These matters should be postponed for the time being.
The minister commented that the demands are fair and reasonable but cannot be done at this time.
About running his ministry, he said, I will not claim to be a perfect person. Errors may occur. I tried to do good; I tried to reduce corruption. Tender trades and swap trades have been stopped.
Incidentally, since 2017, October 22 has been celebrated nationally as National Safe Road Day by government initiative. Like every year, this year too, along with government programs, various organizations, including Nischa, are holding extensive programs.
