Faridpur Correspondent: BNP’s divisional mass meeting officially started two hours earlier in Faridpur with recitation of Holy Quran and singing of National Anthem.
On Saturday (November 12) the mass started at around 12 noon with two chairs left empty. But it was supposed to start at 2 pm.
BNP is holding this divisional mass meeting in Faridpur to protest the unconditional release of BNP chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia, the election-time caretaker government, the increase in prices of essential commodities including fuel oil, rice and pulses and the killing of party leaders and workers.
Faridpur Nagar BAP convener ASM Qayyum is presiding over the rally. The local leaders of BNP and its affiliated organizations are now speaking under the direction of district BNP member secretary AK Kibria.
It has been reported that BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir will address the rally as the chief guest. Standing committee member Mirza Abbas will be present as the main speaker.
Meanwhile, thousands of leaders and activists turned up at the rally venue ignoring the transport strike. The lesson is filling to the brim. The position of activists was also seen across the road on both sides of the field.
2 to 3 days before the divisional meeting, the leaders and workers of five districts took a stand at the gathering place in Faridpur. They adopted this approach because of the transport strike. Many people came to the gathering place with vegetables and bananas from home. Hanging tents in the field and chanting slogans.
The leaders and workers spent the night sleeping under that tent at midnight. Many spend the night with sheets, blankets and beds. In addition, the leaders and activists who came to the rally spent the night in the courtyards and balconies of local people’s houses.
