Dhaka Bureau: A case has been filed against 5,000 Jamaat-Shibir leaders, including his son, in connection with the attack and vandalism at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University and Shahbagh intersection in Dhaka, while the body of Jamaat-e-Islami Naib Amir Delawar Hossain Saeedee, who was sentenced to life imprisonment in the case of crimes against humanity in 1971, was taken to Pirojpur.

In this case filed by Shahbagh police station on Tuesday night, allegations of obstructing government work, beating, and setting fire to a car have been made. Shahbag police station OC Noor Mohammad confirmed the matter to the media. Four people have been named in the case. They are Saidi’s younger son, Masood Saidi, Jamaat-e-Islami Assistant Secretary General AHM Hamidur Rahman Azad, former president of Islamic Student Camp Safiqul Islam Masood, and Dhaka Metropolitan Jamaat-e-Islami Assistant Secretary General Saiful Islam. Jamaat leader Sayeedi, who was sentenced to life imprisonment for crimes against humanity in 1971, died on Monday night while undergoing treatment at the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University Hospital in Dhaka.

On that news, thousands of Jamaat-Shibir leaders flocked to Bangabandhu Medical and Shahbhag at night.

Dhaka Police Commissioner Khandaker Farooq Ahmed said in a press conference on Tuesday morning that they later ‘randomized’ over the transfer of dead bodies. It is to be noted that Delaware Hossain Sayeedi was elected Member of Parliament as a candidate of Jamaat-e-Islami from Pirojpur-1 constituency in 1996 and 2001.

On June 29, 2010, Saeedi was arrested from his house in Shaheen Bagh in the capital for hurting religious sentiments.
