Dhaka Bureau: Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal alleged that the BNP had committed arson in 2013–14 and said they could sabotage at any time. On the occasion of National Mourning Day, he said this in response to questions from reporters after distributing gifts and inaugurating a free medical camp at Rahmate Alam Islam Mission and Islam Mission Orphanage at Tejgaon in the capital on Monday (August 14).
In response to the question of whether BNP is trying to sabotage the program, the Home Minister said, ‘BNP always does this. You have seen in 13–14 what kind of sabotage, arson, and people were killed. Even cattle were killed. Even the truck-CNG driver was not left out. He said, ‘That’s why they can sabotage at any time.
They always think they will take power through conspiracy. The people of this country will never tolerate what they are doing. Our people are alert. So they will never succeed through such a conspiracy. In response to a question about militants, he said, “The militants are trying to surrender, but their movements are being monitored.” They are being eliminated.
He also said, “There is no security threat surrounding the National Day of Mourning on August 15.”
