Dhaka Bureau: The Awami League’s three organizations, Jubo League, Swachhasebak League, and Chhatra League, will hold the pre-scheduled Dhaka divisional meeting at the south gate of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque. The rally will begin on Friday after Friday prayers. Afzalur Rahman Babu, General Secretary of the Swachhasebak League, confirmed this information to the media.

He said that we were supposed to hold a Dhaka divisional rally at the old trade fair ground in Agargaon on Friday afternoon. At the same time, the President has a pre-scheduled program at the Bangabandhu International Conference Centre. So citing security reasons, the Special Security Force (SSF) is not allowing the rally there. So we will gather at the south gate of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque.

He also said that our activists already know that we are holding the rally at South Gate. Since I did not get permission yesterday, I made preparations to do it here (Agargaon). We decided to hold our rally at the south gate of Baitul Mukarram itself. Earlier, three organizations—the Awami League, Jubo League, Swachhasebak League, and Chhatra League—wanted to hold a peace rally on Thursday at the south gate of Baitul Mokarram. But at the end of yesterday’s day-long drama, it was announced at night: their peace rally will be held at Agargaon Trade Fair (old) Ground at 3 p.m. on Friday.

The BNP and Awami League wanted to hold a rally in Dhaka today. BNP wanted in Suhrawardy Udyan, and Awami League wanted in the south gate of Baitul Mukarram. However, no party was given permission by the police. Later on Thursday, it was decided to hold a peace rally of the Awami League at the old trade fair ground in Agargaon. Accordingly, the Awami League delegation visited the field at night (Wednesday). Meanwhile, BNP has decided to hold its rally a day later, on Friday, and it will be held in front of the party’s central office in Nayapaltan.

After this decision of the BNP came, there was a change in the decision of the Awami League. Mirza Azam, organizing secretary of the party, said that the trade fair ground in Agargaon is not suitable for the rally. One day is required to make the ground usable. That is why our peace rally has been postponed by a day to Friday, July 28. After that, Awami League leaders visited the field again this morning. Afzalur Rahman said that after the inspection, we came and saw that it would take two to one more day to prepare the field.

We have to have the rally tomorrow. We thought that since we have been given permission to hold the rally at the south gate of Baitul Mukarram, we would hold the rally at the south gate itself.
