Dhaka Bureau: The Awami League and Islami Andolan Bangladesh have not yet received permission from the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) to hold a rally in the capital tomorrow, Thursday.
On Wednesday (July 26), Dhaka Metropolitan Police Commissioner Khandkar Golam Farooq said that the BNP cannot be allowed to hold a rally in Suhrawardy and Paltan as tomorrow is a working day.
The Additional Commissioner of DMP, AKM Hafiz Akhter, said that permission has not been given to any party yet. Last Saturday, BNP held a youth rally’ under the banner of its associate organization at Suhrawardy Udyan in the capital. From that gathering, it was announced to hold a mass gathering at Suhrawardy Udyan tomorrow, Thursday. After the announcement of the general meeting of the BNP, three organizations of the ruling Awami League have called for a ‘peace rally’ in the Baitul Mukarram area.
On the other hand, the allied parties of the BNP are also holding various programs on the streets on Thursday as part of the simultaneous movement. Charmonai’s Peer Dal Islami Andolan Bangladesh has called a rally at the north gate of Baitul Mukarram.
