Dhaka Bureau: Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has finally received permission from the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) for the rally. However, Jamaat-e-Islami has been allowed to hold a rally at the Ramnar Engineers Institution auditorium, not at the north gate of Baitul Mukarram, as they claimed. DMP Joint Commissioner (Operations) Biplap Kumar Sarkar confirmed this information.
Meanwhile, on condition of anonymity, a senior DMP official said that Jamaat has been given permission to hold a rally in Ramna. But they must have a peaceful assembly. Strict action will be taken by the police if any kind of vandalism or disorder occurs. Regarding the permission, Jamaat’s Dhaka Metropolitan North Publicity Secretary M. Ataur Rahman Sarkar said that Jamaat will hold a rally at Engineers Institution Auditorium today at 2 p.m. on Saturday. Earlier, Jamaat had applied to hold a rally on June 5. But there was no response from DMP, as it was a working day. Then Jamaat-e-Islami announced the new date.
Besides, the party has also issued several instructions to the workers to complete the June 10 program peacefully. These include: The gathering will be peaceful and festive. No incitement shall be allowed on the way to and from the assembly. All provocations should be avoided. Keep your eyes and ears open for all kinds of inactivity. Any inactivity should be reported to the responsible person immediately. They cannot resist inaction by themselves. Only the people of Dhaka city will be present at the rally.
