Dhaka Bureau: BNP Standing Committee member Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury has given the message that Japan wants the next election situation in Bangladesh to be normal. He commented, Japan has many businesses and investments in this country. That is why they are worried. Japan also wants assurance that the situation will remain normal even if the government changes.
On Sunday (May 4) at 10 a.m., the Japanese ambassador met with the BNP leaders at the BNP Chairperson’s office in Gulshan. After the meeting, the head of the BNP’s foreign affairs committee and a member of the party’s standing committee, Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury, told reporters that Bangladesh has a long-standing relationship with Japan. Bilateral relations are very good. During the BNP government, a huge amount of investment has been made in this country. The relationship was strong.
Miss Igai, First Political Secretary of the Embassy of Japan, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, and Shama Obaid, Organizing Secretary of the Party, were present in the meeting, among others.
Khosru said that everyone is concerned about the human rights situation in the country and the elections. Diplomats wanted to know how the environment is here and how it will be in the future, free from fear.
He said that all foreigners are expressing concern about fair and acceptable elections. Those matters were discussed in the meeting with the ambassador of Japan.
Regarding Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s statement of not going to the United States, Khosru said, ‘Where he will go and where he won’t go is his personal decision. But whether 17 crore people in the country will go or not is their personal decision. One person does not decide where a nation will go or not. The people of Bangladesh will decide that.
