Rajshahi Correspondent: Rajshahi district BNP convener Abu Saeed Chand, who threatened to kill Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, has been arrested.
This information was given in a press conference at the headquarters of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP) on Thursday (May 25) around 12:15 PM.
RMP Commissioner Anisur Rahman said in the press conference that we conduct operations in different areas of the city. BNP leader Chand was trying to escape in a private car. He was arrested at Bheripara Junction around 11:15. Legal proceedings are now underway. There are four cases against him in the RMP.
At that time, Rajshahi Range DIG Abdul Baten said that the BNP had political programs in different parts of Bangladesh on May 19. Abu Saeed Chand threatened to kill the Prime Minister at the Puthiya program in Rajshahi. In view of this, a case was filed against Chand. We are trying to arrest him through information technology. We had information that he was going into hiding. So we put checkpoints in different areas. I arrested him in a case at Puthia police station. He will be sent to court today.
