BGB seized Indian cannabis and medicines worth about Tk 9 lakh at Ramgarh border

Khagrachari Correspondent: In a separate incident in Ramgarh Upazila of Khagrachari hill district, BGB seized consignment of Indian cannabis and revenue evading Indian drugs from the border. Ramgarh battalion members of Border Guard Bangladesh-BGB have seized 15 kg of Indian ganja in a raid at the Ramgarh border of the district. Last Tuesday (April 18) at midnight, a patrol team of Ramgarh BOP under Ramgarh Battalion (43 BGB) raided and seized these medicines. However, it was not possible to arrest anyone in this incident.

According to sources, the BGB started a trap based on its own intelligence at a place called Thanaghat inside Bangladesh, approximately 80 yards from the responsible border pillar 2215/6 RB by a patrol team of Ramgarh BOP. According to the information, seeing a smuggler coming towards Bangladesh with a sack on his head from the Indian side, when the BGB patrol challenged them, the smuggler dropped the sack and ran away. The BGB patrol team was able to seize 15 kg of Indian Ganja after searching the bags at the spot.

The BGB told The Crime that the seized Indian ganja, including the general diary at Ramgarh police station, has been deposited at the battalion headquarters for later destruction.

Meanwhile, members of Ramgarh Battalion of Border Guard Bangladesh-BGB have seized a large amount of Indian medicines illegally brought to the country by evading revenue by conducting an operation at Ramgarh bordering India in the hilly district of Khagrachari. Last Tuesday (April 18) night, a patrol team of Ramgarh BOP under Ramgarh Battalion (43 BGB) raided and seized these medicines. However, it was not possible to arrest anyone in the incident.

According to sources, on that day at around 10:00 PM, a patrol team of Ramgarh BOP started a trap based on its own intelligence at a place called Thanaghat, approximately 80 yards from border pillar 2215/6 RB inside Bangladesh. According to the information, when the BGB patrol team saw the smugglers coming towards Bangladesh with the goods from the Indian side, the smugglers dropped the goods and ran away.

It is known that the market value of seized medicine is eight lakh ninety four thousand nine hundred and eighty nine taka.

Ramgarh Battalion Commander Lt. Col. Abu Bakar Siddique Saimoom told The Crime that illegal smuggling will be prevented at any cost, smugglers have become active ahead of the holy Eid-ul-Fitr. BGB is keeping a watchful eye on this matter. BGBiri surveillance and operations will continue under 43BGB border security.
