Sukant Bikas Dhar, Satkania: It has been alleged that Pankaj Chakraborty (38), a gold trader, committed suicide in humiliation when Satkania threatened to spread the video of his sexual intercourse with his wife on social media when he sought money from his husband. The incident took place in Ward No. 1 Dakshin Rampur (Merchant Quarter) area of Satkania Municipality last Wednesday at around 2:30 AM. Pankaj is the son of deceased Banamali Chakraborty of the said locality. In this incident, Palash Chakraborty, the elder brother of the person who committed suicide, filed a case on Thursday (April 13) morning at Satkania police station on charges of incitement to suicide.

Police arrested Sagar Dhar (40), son of deceased Brindavan Dhar Prakash Teikka Khan and his wife Jonaki Dhar (35) of South Rampur merchant neighborhood in this case.

According to the affidavit of the case, Pankaj Chakraborty of Dakshin Rampur Banik Para of Ward No. 1 of Satkania Municipality lent his neighbor Sagar Dhar three and a half lakh rupees while going abroad. As a result, Pankaj developed a good relationship with Sagar’s wife Jonaki. This relationship first took the form of estrangement and then physical relationship. Which is popular in the area. Pankaj’s wife often quarreled over the issue. A few months ago, when Sagar came home from abroad, Pankaj found the money he owed. If Sagar refuses to pay the amount due, it leads to arbitration. In between, Sagar’s wife threatened to spread the video recording of sexual relations between Jonaki and Pankaj on social media (Facebook).

On the day of the incident, Pankaj went to Sagar’s house on Wednesday night and threatened to spread the video of Sagar’s wife Jonaki on Facebook. Later, Pankaj and his wife had a heated argument over the matter. Later Pankaj committed suicide by going to the second floor of the house without everyone’s knowledge.

In this regard, Pankaj’s sister-in-law, Bappu Chakraborty, told The Crime, Sagar and his Mr. Jonaki planned to kill my uncle coldly and call it suicide in order not to pay the money due to my uncle. I demand exemplary punishment through fair investigation subject to questioning of those involved in this murder. He also said that after the incident, he went to his uncle’s house and saw that his uncle was not hanging, his body was lying on the ground. At that time there was no one except Sagar at the scene.

Enamul Kabir, a councilor of Ward No. 1 of the local Satkania municipality, told The Crime, “I had a meeting about the dispute that arose between them a week ago on the issue of dues.” I have reached the point where the issue is close to being resolved. But I found out that Pankaj committed suicide when he was threatened to spread the video of Sagar’s physical relationship with his wife on Facebook.

The councilor also said that Pankaj and Sagar and their wives drank alcohol together in Sagar’s room on Wednesday night, the day of the incident. At one point in his drunken state, Pankaj’s wife exposes Sagar’s wife Jonaki’s extramarital affair with Pankaj. Hearing this, Sagar beat his wife. Meanwhile, Pankaj, unable to bear the beating of Jonaki, commits suicide. Later, around two o’clock in the night, the police came and recovered the body and took it to the police station.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Satkania Police Station. Yasir Arafat told The Crime that Palash Chakraborty, the elder brother of the suicide victim, filed a case at the police station accusing him of abetting suicide. The arrested husband and wife have been accused.

The OC also said that preliminary investigation revealed that Pankaj and Jonaki had an extramarital affair. However, we are investigating why the man died.
