Dhaka Bureau: The BNP will hold a sit-in program for two hours today at the thana and upazila levels of all metropolitan cities, including the capital Dhaka. The sit-in program will continue for two hours in the afternoon with 10-point demands including electricity, gas, an increase in commodity prices, and a protest against government corruption.
It is known that this program will be held simultaneously in 128 organizational police stations in 13 cities, including Dhaka, Chittagong, Rajshahi, and Sylhet, and in about 600 places in 500 upazilas. BNP central executive committee members, former parliamentarians of the party, and top leaders of the district will participate in it. The party has instructed the BNP in each police station to carry out the program in coordination with all the organs and affiliated organizations of their respective police stations.
As part of the simultaneous movement, different like-minded parties and alliances will also hold this program. The Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), People’s Forum, the People’s Party, and like-minded members of the Professional Democratic Alliance will hold programs in the capital. However, the Democracy Manch, the 12-party alliance, and the nationalist like-minded alliance have no program on this day.
Earlier, on April 1, BNP held a two-hour sit-in program in all cities and district headquarters, including the capital. BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir was the chief guest in this program held in front of the Engineers Institute in Dhaka.
