Dhaka Bureau: BNP Standing Committee member Dr. Mosharraf Hossain said that today’s Bangladesh is the most unequal state in the world. The rich are the richest, and the poor are the poorest.
He said this at a discussion meeting at Dhaka’s Reporters’ Unity on Sunday (April 2) afternoon.
On the initiative of the Women and Children’s Rights Forum, a discussion meeting titled ‘Killing, disappearance, and torture without trial: How long will Bangladesh survive? was organized in protest against the killing of Sultana Jasmine and the arrest of journalist Shamsuzzaman in Naogaon.
Naogaon government official Jasmin Akhter’s death was highlighted Dr. Musharraf said this government is arbitrary and dictatorial. Arbitrary and despotic behavior has reached all levels. Otherwise, such an event cannot happen. It’s journalist Shamsuzzaman’s fault? In this country, the price of goods is rising.
He also said that the government has failed in all aspects and that they are disoriented today. I don’t know what to do about this. The officials under this government are also very disappointed and disoriented. They will have to answer for the wrongs they have done under the orders of this illegal dictatorial government in the future. They are nervous about this. RAB has disappeared more than 600 activists on the orders of this government. Killed more than a thousand. There is no dearth of false and fabricated cases.
This senior BNP leader said something has happened in our country due to which America has been forced to give sanctions. RAB has been sanctioned. However, RAB was so careless that they took Jasmine into custody and tortured her to death. This government has killed democracy and taken away people’s right to vote. People are deprived today. People could not vote not only in parliamentary elections but also in local elections in this country.
He also said, We made this country free with blood. What were the expectations? The expectation was to live freely and establish democratic rights. Expectations of equality and economic disparity will not exist. But today’s Bangladesh is the most unequal state in the world. The rich are the richest, and the poor are the poorest.
