Dhaka Bureau: Remittance income in the country has been decreasing continuously for the last two months. In the recently concluded month of October, remittances decreased to 152 million 54 million US dollars. Which is the lowest position in last 8 months. This picture has emerged in the latest report of Bangladesh Bank.
A review of the Central Bank’s report showed that in February last year, remittances came in at 149.44 million US dollars. After that, remittance flows fluctuated but did not decrease that much. This time which is at the lowest position in the last 8 months. In October last year, remittances came in at $164.69 million.
Like other times, this time also the highest remittances came through Islami Bank. In October, remittances through the bank reached 358.4 million dollars. Next is the location of Agrani Bank. 10 crore 64 lakh dollar remittance came through the bank. Apart from this, through Sonali Bank 80.94 million dollars, through Dutch-Bangla Bank 80.65 million dollars and through Al-Arafah Islami Bank 80.48 million dollars have come.
Meanwhile, remittances through five state-owned commercial banks reached 307.2 million US dollars. 118.6 million USD remittances came through private banks. 71 million US dollars came through foreign banks. And a remittance of 2.5 million US dollars came through a specialized bank.
In the current fiscal year 2022-23, the first month of remittances in July reached 209 million 63 million US dollars, in August 203 million 69 million dollars, in September 153 million 95 million dollars came.
In the outgoing fiscal year 2021-22, the total remittance received is 2 thousand 103 crore 17 lakh US dollars. In the first month of that fiscal year, 187 crore 14 lakh dollars came in July, 181 crore 1 lakh in August, 172 crore 67 lakh in September, 164 crore 68 lakh in October, 155 crore 37 lakh in November and 163 crore 6 lakh in December, 170 crore 45 lakh in January, 149 crore 44 lakh in February, 185 crore 97 lakh in March, 201 crore 8 lakh in April, 188 crore 53 lakh in May and 184 crore US dollars came in June. Earlier, the amount of remittance collection in the financial year 2020-21 was 2 thousand 477 crore 77 million US dollars.
