Dhaka Bureau: The court rejected the bail application of 224 people, including the party’s secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and member of the standing committee Mirza Abbas, in the clash between BNP leaders and activists in Nayapaltan.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Shafi Uddin gave this order after the court hearing on Monday (December 12) afternoon.
BNP’s Central Publicity Secretary Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Anyi, Dhaka Metropolitan South Convener Abdus Salam, Khairur Kabir Khokon, Fazlul Haque Milan are among the accused who were denied bail. State counsel Special Public Prosecutor Azad Rahman said this.
Zainul Abedin, Masud Ahmed Talukder and others held the bail hearing on behalf of the accused. More than 100 pro-BNP lawyers were present in the court. In the hearing, the defense lawyers said that the case was filed based on the rally. The rally ended peacefully. Bail them now.
Regarding Mirza Fakhrul, Abbas, they said, their names were not in the declaration. And two accused accused got bail. So they are also entitled to bail. December is the month of victory. They will honor the martyrs. Bail them out. They want the bail of Khairul Kabir Khokon and Abdus Salam as a brave freedom fighter and lawyer.
It should be noted that BNP leaders and activists clashed with the police in front of the BNP central office in Nayapaltan last Wednesday (December 7) afternoon. One person was shot and died. Many were injured. After that, 434 people including BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, Annie were arrested from Nayapaltan and sent to jail.
The police arrested Mirza Fakhrul and Mirza Abbas at around three o’clock in the morning on Thursday. Then on Friday afternoon, when they were produced in court, they were denied bail and sent to jail.
