The Crime Desk: India has imposed a ban on the import of about seven types of goods, including processed garments, food products, and plastics, from Bangladesh through land ports. The Ministry of Commerce has called an emergency meeting today (May 20) to decide what to do in this regard.
An inter-ministerial meeting will be held at the meeting room of the Ministry of Commerce at 4 pm on Tuesday under the chairmanship of the Commerce Secretary to determine the challenges and urgent measures in exporting goods through land ports.
Representatives of the Ministry of Shipping, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Bangladesh Trade and Tariff Commission, National Board of Revenue, Bangladesh Land Ports Authority, Export Promotion Bureau, and National Consumer Protection Department have been asked to attend the meeting.
In addition, representatives of FBCCI, BGMEA, and the India-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry have been invited to attend as business representatives.
