The Crime Desk: Senior BNP leader, former vice president of the party’s undivided Dhaka Metropolitan City, former member of parliament SA Khaleque has died (Inna lillahi wa inna ilaihi rajiun).
He passed away at 3:30 pm on Sunday at a private hospital in the capital. This information was confirmed by BNP media cell member Shairul Kabir Khan.
Earlier, this 97-year-old BNP leader was admitted to the hospital last Wednesday. He was put on a ventilator on Saturday night. Then he died on Sunday afternoon. BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir went to see SA Khaleque this afternoon. He was accompanied by BNP Chairperson’s Advisory Council member Abdus Salam.
Once an influential politician, SA Khaleque had been suffering from various complex diseases, including heart disease and diabetes, for a long time.
It is learned that his funeral will be held tomorrow, Monday (January 6), at 12 noon in front of the Naya Paltan BNP central office and at 2 pm at the Mirpur Bangla College premises. After that, he will be buried at the family grave at the Mirpur Shahi Mosque in Gabtoli.
