The Crime Desk: Former VP Sultan Mohammad Mansoor Ahmed was arrested after returning home from Canada. On Monday (September 30) morning, he was arrested from the immigration of Dhaka’s Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport and taken into DB custody.
Additional Commissioner of Intelligence Division (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police Rezaul Karim Mallik said that he was detained by immigration for questioning due to some allegations. We will interrogate him and verify where the allegations are.
According to family sources, Sultan Mansoor has been traveling to the UK, US, and Canada for a long time. He was out of the country long before the student movement. There is no case against him so far.
In 1986, Sultan Mansoor was elected as the Central President of the Chhatra League. In 1989, he was elected VP of Daksur. Under his leadership, the portrait of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was unveiled in Daksu Bhaban, ignoring various adversities.
In the June 12, 1996 election, Sultan Mansoor won the Moulvibazar-2 seat as the Awami League candidate.
