Dhaka Bureau: A member of the presidium of Awami League is Simin Hossain Rimi, the daughter of the first Prime Minister of Bangladesh, Tajuddin Ahmed, who is one of the four national leaders.
Obaidul Quader, General Secretary of the party and Minister of Road Transport and Bridges, announced her name at the women’s Awami League conference at Suhrawardy Udyan on Saturday (November 26) afternoon.
The 21st National Conference of Awami League was held on 20 and 21 December 2019. In that committee, Sheikh Hasina was elected as president for the ninth time and Obaidul Quader as general secretary for the second time. And the members of the presidium were elected – Syeda Sajeda Chowdhury, Begum Matia Chowdhury, Sheikh Fazlul Karim Salim, Mohammad Nasim, Kazi Zafar Ullah, Advocate Sahara Khatun, Engineer Mosharraf Hossain, Piyush Kanti Bhattacharya, Nurul Islam Nahid, Dr. Md. Abdur Razzaq, Lieut. Colonel (retd) Muhammad Farooq Khan, Ramesh Chandra Sen, Advocate Abdul Mannan Khan, Advocate Abdul Matin Khosru, Shajahan Khan, Jahangir Kabir Nanak and Abdur Rahman.
On June 13, 2020, former health minister Mohammad Nasim, a member of the presidium of Awami League, died due to corona. Another member former Home Minister Sahara Khatun died on July 9 of that year. Then Abdul Matin Khosru died on April 14, 2021. Former minister Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya, former minister Kamrul Islam and Rasik mayor Khairuzzaman Liton were given these three posts.
Finally, on September 11, Syeda Sajeda Chowdhury’s death left another post of presidium member vacant. National conference of Awami League will be held on December 24. A month before this, Simin Hossain Rimi was brought to this vacancy.
