International Desk: The former President of the United States and Republican candidate Donald Trump were ambushed last Saturday night at the election meeting in Pennsylvania. The US intelligence agency FBI has released the name of the attacker on Trump. Earlier, the agency said that the shooting at Trump was an “assassination attempt.”.
The FBI identified the attacker as 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks. According to US media reports, Crooks, the attacker, was a registered member of the Republican Party, according to state voter card information.
US law enforcement officials believe Crooks’ father bought the gun he used to shoot Trump, AFP said.
Crooks’ father bought the weapon at least six months ago, two officials told AFP on condition of anonymity. In the video, Trump suddenly falls to the floor in the middle of the rally and stands up with blood on one side of his face.
The FBI also said that the young man named Thomas Crooks did not have any kind of ID card. That is why DNA samples were collected to identify him.
Thomas lived in Bethel Park, Pennsylvania. Which is about 70 kilometers, or 43 miles, away from Butler. Thomas graduated from Bethel Park High School in 2022, school officials said in a statement.
Crooks’ father, Matthew Crooks, said in an interview with CNN, “I want to know exactly what happened.” But before I talk about my son, I will talk to law enforcement first.
According to CBS News, police cordoned off the road to the house where Crooks lived. Bethel Park police say they are investigating whether there are bombs or anything else around Crooks’ home.
