Comilla Correspondent: BNP’s divisional mass meeting in Comilla started at 11 o’clock before 12 noon. People flocked to this gathering. There is no place for sesame seeds in the town hall grounds in the heart of Comilla city. There is no place in the streets of the city. Before the start of the sectional mass meeting, thousands of BNP leaders and activists wearing colorful t-shirts, genjis and hats with pictures of Begum Khaleda Zia, Tariq Rahman and their followers are waiting for the start of the rally. BNP leaders are looking forward to hold a large rally. The leaders and workers who came to the mass meeting of BNP spent Friday night dancing, marching, lying down and sitting at the meeting place. Many were also seen lying on blankets in the fields.
The crowd for the rally spread beyond the town hall grounds to the Comilla Kandirpar road. The city is full of chanting and miking. Thousands of people are marching on the road around the rally venue. The leaders and activists are going towards the meeting place along the main road of the city.
On Saturday (November 26) the rally started around 12 noon. The divisional meeting of BNP started in Comilla with reading of Holy Quran, Gita and Tripitaka. BNP’s party anthem was performed at this time. Meanwhile, BNP Standing Committee Member Mirza Abbas, Vice Chairman Barkat Ullah Bulu, Comilla South District BNP Convener Amin Ur Rashid Yashin, Organizing Secretary (Comilla Division) Mostak Mia and other leaders have appeared on the stage.
Kandirpar, the center of the city and the surrounding areas are deserted, so they are not going forward with the march, so the activists are forced to take the position of Kandirpar-Tomcham Bridge, Kandirpar-Chawkbazar, Kandirpar-Shasongacha, Kandirpar-Press Club and raise slogans. Comilla city has turned into a procession city. As there is curiosity among common people including various political parties other than BNP around the rally, there is excitement and joy among the leaders and workers of the party. Vendors are selling coatpins of Ziaur Rahman, Khaleda Zia, Tarek Rahman and the grain of rice in the town hall grounds and surrounding areas.
Party General Secretary Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir will be the chief guest at the rally. He is staying in Comilla on Friday night. Central leaders including party standing committee member Khandkar Mosharraf Hossain, Nazrul Islam Khan, Mirza Abbas have already arrived in Comilla. Vice Chairman Barkat Ullah Bulu has been staying in Comilla since the last 22. This divisional rally in Comilla is the party’s 8th mass rally. Along with the leaders and workers of the party, ordinary people also came to the rally. Meanwhile, on the occasion of the public meeting, BNP doctors’ organization DAB opened a medical camp at Comilla Central Shaheed Minar.
Meanwhile, two chairs have been left empty for BNP chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia and acting chairman of the party Tarek Rahman on the 72 feet length, 30 feet width and 6 feet height assembly stage of the town hall ground. Shamsuddin Didar, a member of BNP’s press wing, is staging for media workers near the main stage. Leaders of various units of Comilla organizational division of the party started speaking from 12:30 on Saturday. Central leaders of BNP will address after noon. Comilla South District BNP Member Secretary Haji Md. will conduct the rally. Jasim Uddin and Yusuf Molla Tipu, Member Secretary of Metropolitan BNP. Former MP Haji Amin ur Rashid Yashin, convener of Comilla South District BNP, will preside over this mass meeting.

Meanwhile, a large number of police have been deployed in Kandirpar and surrounding areas of the city in view of the mass gathering in Comilla. Due to the small size of the town hall ground, the number of people on the road is more than the ground. Mics have also been placed on roads far away from the rallying point in the city.
