Dhaka Bureau: In the third round, the court has ordered the seizure of eight flats in the name of former IGP Benazir Ahmed, his wife Zishan Mirza, and other girls.
Following the application of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), Judge Mohammad Assamach Jaglul Hossain of the Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge’s Court gave this order on Wednesday (June 12).
ACC lawyer Mahmud Hossain Jahangir confirmed the matter and told the media that there are 24 khata land in Rupganj, 3 khata land in Uttara, 2 flats on 39.30 khata land in Badda, 25 acres of land (lease) in Bandarban district, and 6 in the PC culture area of Badabran in the name of wife Jisan Mirza. The flat immovable is crocheted. Apart from this, it has been ordered to freeze six Tala buildings, shares in Citizen TV, and shares in Tower Apparel (Garmentes) based on the ‘power of attorney’ received from Gulshan’s father.
Earlier, the court ordered the freezing of Benazir’s huge assets in two phases. Among the seized properties, 273 bighas of land worth Tk 10 crore 21 lakh, 4 flats in Gulshan worth Tk 219 lakh, 1 plot, 4 BO accounts with Tk 30 lakh savings certificates, 4 companies with 100% ownership, and 15 companies held as shares According to the ACC, these properties are in the name of former IGP Benazir Ahmed, his wife Zeeshan Mirza, and his three daughters, namely Farhin Rista bint Benazir, Zahra Zareen bint Benazir, and Tahsin Raisa bint Benazir.
