Kushtia Correspondent: It has been alleged that a family was blocked for 8 days by blocking the access road to their house on PTI Road in Kushtia town. They have been under blockade since last Thursday (April 18).

The victim’s family complained that a local person named Momen blocked the only road through the wall on the road land they had purchased. They are living an inhumane life in a blocked state without being able to leave their homes.

It is known that Najma Khatun is the owner of 0.61 acres of land on Mohammad Abdul Rahim Road, Chaudhas Mouzar (4474 Dag), Kushtia suburb. He has been living there with his family members for 17 years.

Last Thursday morning, the influential momen of the area blocked the family by forcibly raising a brick wall. Desperate, the victim’s family sought the intervention of the administration.

The victim, Najma Khatun, said that she has been living with her children and family for 17 years on the purchased land. Suddenly, on April 18, the dominant Momen blocked the entrance to the house, showing his power. He has been blocked in his house for eight days. He sought the intervention of the administration to get rid of it.

Regarding the complaint, Momen said, I raised the wall only after determining the boundary of my land. However, he could not show any documents in favor of the claimed land.

Councilor Saiful Haque Murad of Ward No. 5 of Kushtia Municipality said, I have also heard the matter. But if someone builds a wall in someone else’s place, we have nothing to do.

Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) of Kushtia, Partha Pratim Sheel, said no one has the right to block the road. Action will be taken if a written complaint is received.
