Dhaka Bureau: Child writer Tipu Kibria has been arrested again on charges of child pornography. He was arrested from the Khilgaon area of the capital on Wednesday (April 24) by a specialized team of Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP).
CTTC announced this information at a press conference at DMP’s media center at Minto Road in the capital today.
Earlier in 2014, Tipu Kibria was arrested on the same charges by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the police.
According to CTTC, Tipu Kibria was once a popular children’s writer. He is associated with international child pornography. Another person was arrested along with him. The person’s name is Kamrul Islam, alias Sagar. He is an associate of Tipu Kibria. A large quantity of child pornography material and pornography production equipment were seized from the duo during their arrest.
DMP Additional Commissioner (CTTC) at the press conference. Asaduzzaman said that a case was filed against Tipu Kibria under the Pornography Act in the 2014 incident. However, he was acquitted in the case. He got out of prison and went back to the old path of child pornography under the guise of literary practice.
CTTC chief Asaduzzaman also said that Tipu Kibria confessed to the crime during the initial interrogation. He used street children to create pornographic content. He used to invite street children from different parts of the capital to his home with a small amount of money. He used to take indecent pictures and videos of street children on his camera. About 2500 still images and about 1000 videos taken for the purpose of child pornography were found on the camera, computer, and cloud storage used by Tipu Kibria.
