Bangladesh has taken the largest loan from the World Bank

Economy Desk: Bangladesh got the most support from the World Bank in various development works after independence. Their affiliated organization International Development Agency (IDA) is giving low interest loans to Bangladesh.

IDA’s biggest customer is Bangladesh. Currently, IDA will get a loan of 18.129 billion US dollars from Bangladesh. 33 percent of total foreign debt. Which is the most.

IDA loan service charge is 0.75% and interest rate is 1.25%. Both together are 2 percent. A commitment fee of 0.50% per annum is payable on undrawn financing status. Loan grace period or installment exemption is 5 years. And to be paid in 30 years. After independence, Bangladesh has taken IDA loans of more than 4000 million dollars. Currently, IDA funds for ongoing projects in the country are more than 16 billion dollars.

After the World Bank, the Asian Development Bank (ADB) will get more loans to Bangladesh, 13.277 billion US dollars. Japan is number three in terms of lending, the country has given loans of 9.213 billion.

In addition, Russia 5, China 4.76, India has given a loan of 1 billion dollars. South Korea provided 743 million dollars, Islamic Development Bank (IDB) 664 billion dollars. A total of 10 development partners will get a loan of 55.60 billion dollars from Bangladesh.
