Dhaka Bureau: Organized by the Dhaka Metropolitan Committee of Samyavadi Dal (ML) of Bangladesh, a human chain and protest march was held in front of the National Press Club at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 9, 2024, to protest against the rise in prices of commodities, including electricity.
Dhaka Metropolitan Committee convener and central committee member Saimum Haque presided over the meeting.
The speakers said that the dishonest traders have cheated the people by increasing the price of daily necessities by syndicating the market and increasing the price of electricity.
General Secretary of Bangladesh Communist Party ML, former Industries Minister Comrade Dilip Barua, as the chief guest in the human chain, said that smugglers, hoarders, bank robbers, and communal evil forces have taken the government hostage. The government should take responsibility for its root production. If this government continues to show helplessness and change the resume, then the government will be isolated from the people. Resume changers can seize the opportunity to overthrow the government through conspiracies.
The meeting was attended by Central Committee member Sultan Ahmed Biswas, Dhaka Metropolitan Joint Convener Comrade Masum Uddin, Metropolitan Member Shawkat Hossain Khan Saikat, Md Hazrat Ali Molla, Subrat Ghatak, Md Munna, and others.
