On January 19, remittances reached 136 million dollars

Dhaka Bureau: On January 19, 2024, expatriates sent remittances of 136 million to 41 million US dollars to the country. In other words, an average of 7.18 million dollars of remittances came every day. This information was revealed in the updated report of Bangladesh Bank on Sunday (January 21).

According to the data of the Central Bank, in the first 19 days of January, remittances through the state-owned banks reached 116 million 640 thousand dollars. 2 crore 88 lakh 20 thousand dollars through specialized banks, 122 crore five lakh 20 thousand dollars through private banks, and 41 lakh 60 thousand dollars through foreign sector banks.

According to the data from Bangladesh Bank, from January 13 to 19, 44 crore, 82 lakh, and 30 thousand US dollars in remittances arrived in the country. Besides, 54 crore, 50 lakh, and 40 thousand US dollar remittances arrived in the country from January 6 to 12. And in the first five days of January, 37 million, 870 thousand US dollars in remittances came to the country.

It should be noted that expatriates sent remittances worth 198 million, 98 million, and 70 thousand US dollars last December. And in the month of November, remittances to the country reached 193 million, 40 thousand US dollars.
