Reza Kibria resigned from the People’s Rights Council

Dhaka Bureau: Reza Kibria has resigned from the post of convener and member of the People’s Rights Council. Reza Kibria himself told reporters this information on Wednesday (January 3) night.

The press release signed by Reza Kibria said, For the kind information of the countrymen through you, I am resigning from the post of convener of the People’s Rights Council. I have submitted my resignation to the Central Executive Council. Besides, I have also resigned from the party membership of the People’s Rights Council. Joint convener of the party, Col. (retd.) Mia Mosiuzzaman, as the acting convener.

It also said, I am deeply grateful to the leaders of the People’s Rights Council for giving me the opportunity to serve as the convener of the party. I feel very honored to have worked with you for the past 2 years and 2 months.

In the notification, Reza Kibria said, You know that I officially joined politics after leaving the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in December 2018. Since October 2021, I have been serving as the founding convener of the People’s Rights Council. Before joining politics, I worked on government policy in various countries around the world. At some point, I felt that the time had come to work for the people of my country. Such an opportunity may not come in the future. My father, Shah A.M.S. Like Kibria, I want to devote myself to the service of the people.

He said, I will work with those who are working to establish democracy, social justice, and good governance in Bangladesh. I am very optimistic about our young generation. I think the youth are slowly becoming aware of the immense potential of Bangladesh.

I would like to thank the people of the country and the media who have encouraged and supported me in the past few months. I hope that in the coming days we will work together to establish freedom and justice in the country.

In this regard, Farooq Hasan, Acting Member Secretary of the People’s Rights Council, said, “He has resigned; it is true.”
