Dhaka Bureau: The Jatiya Party (JAPA) got 26 seats in the 12th National Assembly Elections in a seat agreement with the Awami League. Out of these 26, 23 currently have MPs from Japa. It is known that there will be no candidate for the Awami League boat symbol in these seats.
Official sources of both parties confirmed the matter.
A compromise meeting was held between the Awami League and Japa leaders in the Jatiya Sangsad Bhavan area on Friday night. Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader, presidium member Jahangir Kabir (Nanak), joint general secretary AFM Bahauddin (Nashim), and organizing secretary Mirza Azam were present in the meeting.
Senior Co-Chairman Anisul Islam Mahmood and General Secretary Mujibul Haque (Chunnu) were on behalf of Japa. However, after the meeting, neither party agreed to make any official comments to the media.
The candidates for 26 seats in the Jatiya Party are:
Hafiz Uddin Ahmed is in the Thakurgaon-3 seat and Kishoreganj-3 seat. Mujibul Haque Chunnu, Hossain Maqbul Shahriar in Rangpur-1 seat, GM Quader in Rangpur-3 seat, Ahsan Adelur Rahman in Nilphamari-4 seat, Mustafiz in Kurigram-1 seat, Panir Uddin Ahmed in Kurigram-2 seat, Salim Osman in Narayanganj-5 seat, Gaibandha-Shamim Patwari in 1st seat, Gaibandha in 2nd seat. Abdur Rashid Sarkar, Sylhet-3 Constituency. Atiqur Rahman, Rana Mohammad Sohail in the Nilphamari-3 seat, and Nurul Islam Talukder in the Bogra-3 seat.
Apart from this, Abdul Hamid is in the Brahmanbaria-2 seat, Suleman Alam Seth is in the Chittagong-8 seat, Shariful Islam Jinnah is in the Bogra-2 seat, and Md. is in the Satkhira-2 seat. Ashrafuzzaman, Masud Uddin Chowdhury in Feni-3 Constituency, Anisul Islam Mahmud in Chittagong-5 Constituency, Ruhul Amin Howladar in Patuakhali-1 Constituency, Salah Uddin Ahmed Mukti in Mymensingh-5 Constituency, Fakhrul Imam in Mymensingh-8 Constituency, Pirojpur-3 Constituency Md. Mashrekul Azam Ravi, Habiganj-1 Constituency. Abdul Munim Chowdhury, Zahirul Alam Rubel in the Manikganj-1 seat, and Golam Kibria Tipu in the Barisal-3 seat.
