Dhaka Bureau: Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Dhaka Metropolitan South organized a human chain on the occasion of International Human Rights Day at Shahid Farooq Road in Jatrabari, the capital, this morning. The police ambushed the peaceful human chain, firing tearshells and firinggrenades, and arrested several activists. The police carried out the attack around 8:30 a.m. on Sunday.
Shura is a member of the Central Majlis and Nayeb Amir is the Advocate of Dhaka Metropolitan South. Under the leadership of Helal Uddin, members of the Central Majlish Shura and Assistant Secretary of Dhaka Metropolitan South Delawar Hossain were also present. Abdul Mannan, Central Majlish Shura Member and Dhaka Metropolitan South Working Council Member Prof. Mukarram Hossain, Shamsur Rahman, Dhaka Metropolitan South Working Council Member Abdus Salam, Kamrul Ahsan, Islami Chhatra Shibir Dhaka Metropolitan South President Touhidul Islam, Dhaka Metropolitan East President Takrim Hasan, Jagannath University President Mohammad Abdullah, Dhaka College President Asif Tajwar Shishir, and various Police Station Amirs and Secretaries of Dhaka Metropolitan South.
