Dhaka Bureau: Additional Police Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Detective (DB) Police Mohammad Haroon Or Rashid has commented that it cannot be a political program to run away from the streets without calling a blockade and throwing cocktails on cars by hired people.
He said that the political parties have called for an 18-day blockade and a three-day hartal in nine phases. Abandoned cars are set on fire. But running away from the streets without calling a blockade and throwing cocktails on cars with hired men cannot be a political program.
The DB chief said these things while talking to reporters at his office on Minto Road in the capital on Tuesday.
Haroon Or Rasheed said that we had seen earlier in 2014 that they threw bombs in the road in the same way. I tried to attack the police. People did not respond to such programs. The election schedule has been announced. We are working as per the guidelines of the Election Commission.
He also said that we are also working as per our routine. It is our routine work to arrest those who commit fraud, robbery, warrants, and listed offenses. The responsibility of the police is to protect people and state property. Police forces, DB, and law enforcement forces are working 24 hours a day from the streets. The objective is to ensure that no one obstructs the normal flow of traffic.
DB Pradhan said that so far, those who have called for an 18-day blockade and a 3-day hartal in 9 phases have not been accepted by the common people. People are coming out of the house. An attempt is being made to call a blockade and bring in hired people to set fires in isolation. At the end of the day, people are moving out of their houses and onto the streets because it is not having any effect on them.
