BNP leader Alal is in jail after being remanded

Dhaka Bureau: The court has ordered BNP Joint Secretary General Syed Moazzem Hossain Alal to be sent to prison after remand in the case of vandalism at the Bangladesh Police Liberation War Museum in Rajarbagh of the capital.

On Monday (November 6) afternoon, after the remand, Alal was produced in the Metropolitan Magistrate Court of Dhaka. After that, sub-inspector Farhad Matubbar of the Paltan police station applied to keep him in jail until the proper investigation of the case against him was completed. At that time, there was opposition from the accused. After the hearing, the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Rashidul Islam refused Alal’s bail and ordered him to be sent to prison.

Before this, Alal was arrested from the Shahid Bagh area under the Shahjahanpur police station in the capital on the night of October 30.

According to the statement of the case, at 3:10 pm on October 28, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, standing committee member Mirza Abbas, and Dhaka Metropolitan BNP convenor Abdus Salam instigated and, under the direct instructions of the accused and unidentified fugitives, vandalized the police canteen under the Paltan police station and the police liberation war. The glass of the museum was damaged by throwing bricks at it. Various vehicles, including motorcycles, were vandalized and set on fire. Chanmari threw brickbats along with arson at the duty post of Police Lines. The police were attacked from three sides when they tried to restrain them for the safety of lives and property. A few policemen were injured, and ASI Ershadul Haque was beaten to death, and his pistol and magazine containing eight rounds were taken away.

Earlier, on November 2, sub-inspector Shafiqul Islam of Khilkhet police station filed a case of theft of pistols and vandalism of the Liberation War Museum by the police. In the case, 300/400 people have been named as unknown accused, including 15 people, including senior joint secretary general of BNP Ruhul Kabir Rizvi.
