Sylhet District and Metropolitan Jubo Dal called for morning-evening hartal on Wednesday in four districts of Sylhet Division due to the death of Jubo Dal leader during the siege in Sylhet.
On the other hand, the district BNP has called a half-hour hartal on Wednesday (November 1) to protest the killing of Chhatra Dal leader Shefayet Ullah and Krishak Dal leader Billal Mia in the BNP-police clash during the siege at Kuliarchar in Kishoreganj.
On Tuesday night, District Kishoreganj District Secretary of BNP According to a press release signed by Shahidullah Qaiser, the police attacked a peaceful program at Kuliarchar in Kishoreganj on the first day of the 72-hour blockade called by the BNP to protest the one-point demand for the downfall of the government and the planned attack on the mass gathering.
Upazila Chhatra Dal leader Refayet Ullah and Chissuti Union Krishak Dal president Billal Mia were killed in a police firing, and more than two hundred leaders and activists were injured. Kishoreganj District BNP has called for a general hartal from six in the morning to two in the afternoon in Kishoreganj district on Wednesday in protest of this murder.
According to local sources, two people were killed in a clash between BNP leaders and activists at Kuliarchar in Kishoreganj. BNP claimed that two of them were killed in a police firing.
Meanwhile, four districts of Sylhet division will observe morning-evening hartal. The hartal was called on Tuesday (October 31) evening due to the death of Juba Dal leader Zillur Ahmad (42) who was chased by the police while carrying out the party program.
Sylhet District BNP General Secretary Advocate Emran Ahmad Chowdhury said that in the morning, he went from Zillur to Lalabazar in South Surma on a motorcycle to carry out the blockade program. At that time, a police car gave chase. Two people, including Zillur, were seriously injured on the spot. Later, Zillur was arrested and brought to the police station. His death was reported at the hospital around 2 p.m.
Sylhet District BNP President Abdul Qayyum Chowdhury said that Jubo Dal has called a strike in Sylhet on Wednesday due to the death of Jubo Dal worker Zillur in police custody. We have given moral support to it. Along with the hartal, the three-day blockade program called by BNP will also continue.
Sylhet Metropolitan Police Deputy Commissioner (North) Azbahar Ali Sheikh said that some people, including Zillur, were picketing in the Lalabazar area. At that time, the police chased them. While fleeing after the chase, Jillu’s motorcycle collided with a tree. Two were injured. Later, the locals rescued them and took them to the hospital. Zillur died while undergoing treatment there.
