Dhaka Bureau: BNP National Standing Committee member Mirza Abbas has been arrested from the Dhaka Bank branch in Shahid Bagh of the capital. He was arrested by the DB Police on Tuesday, October 30. He was taken to the DB office. Earlier, the police had surrounded his house in Shahjahanpur since morning.
Earlier on Tuesday, Dhaka’s Special Judge Court-6 issued an arrest warrant against BNP leader Mirza Abbas in the case of concealment of assets and acquisition of assets outside known income. In 2019, the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) filed a case against Mirza Abbas for acquiring illegal assets.
It should be noted that on March 15 (Wednesday) of this year, they surrendered and applied for bail in the Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge’s Court. Judge Md. Asaduzzaman granted the application. On December 27 last year, ACC deputy director and investigation officer Nurul Huda filed a charge sheet against Mirza Abbas and his wife Afroza Abbas in the court of the senior special judge of Dhaka.
