Dhaka Bureau: Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir alleged that the government is pushing the country towards a conflict situation. He said that the government is leading the country into a state of complete conflict. His aim is to create a conflict situation in the country and hold the same elections as before (2014 and 2018).

The BNP Secretary General made this complaint in a press conference on Wednesday (October 11) at noon. He said they are thinking of a one-sided election; no voter will turn up. They will be elected that way. But this time, it will not be possible.

Mirza Fakhrul said, We have made it very clear that no election can be held under Sheikh Hasina; we have said that this government must resign and this parliament must be dissolved. We have no headaches about elections. The only demand is that this government should be removed, and there is no liberation for Bangladesh.

He said there is no benefit in such an election. After the last two elections, the whole world is saying that your election is not right. Not extensible, not credible—what will happen to this selection?
An election that no one accepts. Nothing can be forced. This time too, there will be no profit. impossible

The BNP Secretary General said that this struggle is getting more and more intense every day. We believe that this government will be forced to resign due to public outrage.

“Regarding the United States Pre-Election Observation Team”

When asked about the meeting with the US pre-election observer team, BNP Secretary General said, They have come here to see whether they will send election observers or not; they have come here to see whether there is an election situation here. It is very clear that they did not give any opinion. What we have said to them is that we are of the opinion that there cannot be any election in the situation that has arisen. C must resign. There can be no election here without giving power to a non-partisan, neutral government.

“His statements about the dialogue are false.”

In response to Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader’s statement that BNP has closed the way for dialogue, Mirza Fakhrul said, “It is nonsense; you know very well how big a lie it is.” We have always said that one issue can be discussed and no other issue; that is, no issue can be discussed except for the neutral election government. But it must be announced to the government first that we will accept it. Now let’s talk about how it can be a neutral, non-partisan government. But you must resign.

“Condemnation of arrest of BNP publicity secretary and member secretary of media cell Shahid Uddin Anyi”

Mirza Fakhrul said former MP member secretary of our campaign cell, Shahid Uddin Chowdhury, one of the leaders of the 1990s uprising, arrested Annie last night by breaking the door of his house as a robber does at night. They say that the accused in the case is fine. It can be taken in other ways, or you can say that you surrender.

The manner in which he was arrested proves that this government has not announced the schedule of elections, just like before. They are well on their way to one-sided elections by arresting those who are active leaders of the BNP in particular and filing false cases.

We condemn Annie’s arrest and demand her immediate release. Annie was arrested by the police at her house in Dhanmondi at around three o’clock yesterday night. Party Secretary General Joint Secretary General Aslam Chowdhury, Trade Affairs Secretary Salauddin Ahmed, Habiganj Convenor Cooperative Affairs Secretary GK Ghaus, Joint Relief Affairs Secretary Shafiqul Alam Milan, Executive Committee Member Sheikh Rabiul Alam Ravi, Dhaka Metropolitan South BNP Member Secretary Rafiqul Alam Majnu, Joint Convenor Tanveer Ahmed Rabin, former president of Yuba Dal, Saiful Alam Nirab, current general secretary Abdul Monayem Munna, former president of Juba Dal Dhaka Metropolitan North SM Jahangir, former joint general secretary Gholam Mawla Shahin, vice president of Dhaka North Azizur Rahman Mosabbir and other jailed leaders even after getting bail from the High Court. The BNP Secretary General also alleged that they are being arrested from jail by showing them as accused in the ‘gaybi’ case.

At the same time, he said that leaders and activists imprisoned in jail are being tortured and ill-treated by their relatives who are going to meet them.

The press conference was held at the chairperson’s office in Gulshan. This press conference was called to announce the decision of the meeting of the National Standing Committee under the chairmanship of Tarek Rahman, the acting chairman of the party, on October 11. BNP Standing Committee members Abdul Moin Khan, Nazrul Islam Khan, and Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury were present in the press conference.
