Dhaka Bureau: Mahila Awami League and Jubo Mahila League finally got full committees. Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina approved the full committee of the two organizations on Sunday night after seven months of the conference. 102 people have been placed on the full committee of the Women’s Awami League. And the committee of the Jubo Mahila League has 163 members. The new committee will pay tribute to the portrait of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at 32 Dhanmondi at noon today, Monday (July 17).
According to the sources, the full committee has been formed with a combination of new and old members. Tested and dedicated former leaders of the party have been placed on the committee. The former leaders and activists of the Chhatra League have gained prominence in the organization. The Mahila Awami League conference was held on November 26, 2022.
Former Minister of State for Women and Child Affairs Meher Afroz Chumki presided over the conference, and Shabnam Jahan Sheila became the general secretary. After seven months, the full committee met yesterday. When asked, the general secretary of the organization, Shabnam Jahan Shila, told the media that we had submitted the full committee list to the central Awami League’s policy-making stage two months ago.
He said many of the newcomers came from the Chhatra League, some from various organizations of the Awami League, including the Jubo Mahila League. Those who have been working for the party from the grassroots and were in the field in the movement and struggle have been given a place in the new committee. On the other hand, on December 15, 2022, at the third national conference of the Jubo Mahila League, Aleya Sarwar Daisy was given the post of President and Sharmin Sultana Lily as General Secretary.
Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader ordered the full committee of the organization to be submitted within two days last Friday (July 14) evening, as there was no full committee even seven months after the name of the president-general secretary was announced. The president of the organization, Aleya Sarwar Daisy, told the media that today (yesterday), the full committee has been approved. We want to take the organization strongly forward. General Secretary Sharmin Sultana Lilly said that the new committee has only a place for the leaders and activists who have given up.
Chhatra League and Porkhawa activists got more prominence. Politicians say that affiliate organizations are needed in political parties because a political party comes to power with an election program. People cast their votes by seeing these programs. Therefore, after coming to power, the implementation of the programs is the main task of the government. But the implementation of that program is not possible for the government alone. This requires the participation of people from various professions. For the purpose of implementing the programs of the government, parties need organs and affiliates.
When asked, Awami League presidium member Advocate Jahangir Kabir Nanak told the media that the main party and subsidiary organizations would work as complements to each other in the implementation of ideals. Supporting the main team is the work of the subsidiary organization.
Because we all follow an ideal. It should be noted that the Awami League has eight affiliated organizations. The organizations are Jubo League, Volunteer League, Farmers League, Mahila Awami League, Jubo Mahila League, Tanti League, Bangabandhu Awami Lawyer Parishad, and Fishermen League. Besides, the fraternal organizations are the Bangladesh Chhatra League, Jatiya Sramik League, Mahila Sramik League, and Freedom Doctors Parishad.
