Dhaka Bureau: The High Court has ordered that the media and barrister Sumon cannot express any opinion against Bangladesh Football Federation (BAFFE) president Kazi Salauddin until the investigation into the allegations of corruption and money laundering related to FIFA money is over. At the same time, the Buff President has also been asked to refrain from giving an opinion.
On Wednesday (June 14), Justice Zafar Ahmed and Justice Md. of the High Court bench of Bashir Ullah passed the order. After the hearing, Kazi Salauddin said to the journalists, “I have come to the High Court for the first time in my life. It is very sad for me to come to court about these issues.
On Tuesday (June 13), Buffe’s president filed a writ in the High Court against barrister Suman to remove all defamatory statements from social media. Earlier on June 6, Kazi Salauddin sent a legal notice to 17 individuals or organizations, including Barrister Saidul Haque Sumon, through lawyer Ajmalul Hossain KC, for criticizing Bafufe and Kazi Salauddin on social media. Barrister Sumon also served the same notice to newly resigned executive member Arif Hussain Moon and sports organizer Shakeel Mahmud Chowdhury from BAUFFE.
In addition, Salahuddin’s lawyer has given legal notice to some news broadcast in the media and the journalists of a TV channel and newspaper who spoke in the media. Referring to the order given by the High Court, Barrister Suman said, ‘I think it is clear that no party has won or lost in the order. He wants us not to speak defamatory words. I have spoken the truth about him; if he is honored by it, then it is a different matter.
The lawyer also said, ‘The court did not order us to stop any defamatory statements against him. The court only barred any comment on the ACC’s investigation into allegations of money laundering. The court did not prohibit talking about anything else.’
