Dhaka Bureau: RAB has arrested 3 people including 2 members providing money to the new militant organization ‘Jamatul Ansar Fil Hindal Sharqiya’. Commander Khandaker Al Moin, Director of Law and Media Branch, gave this information at a press conference at RAB’s media center in Karwan Bazar in the capital on Wednesday (December 9).
He said, on Tuesday (November 8) from the signboard area of Narayanganj, Abdul Hadi alias Suman alias John, one of the financial providers of the new militant organization “Jamatul Ansar Fil Hindal Sharqiya”, Md. Abu Saeed aka Sher Mohammad, Md. Ronnie Mia was arrested. John used to teach in a madrasa in Sunamganj. He was inspired by the ideology of ‘Jamatul Ansar Phil Hindal Sharqiya’ through Syed Maruf alias Manik, a Shura member of the organization one to one and a half years ago. He was the ‘A’ class financier of the organization. He gave Tk 9 lakh to Rakib, Shura member of the organization and head of finance branch, for organizational activities, 3 months ago. Collected money from his two expatriate brothers based in England by talking about helping various mosques/madrasas. Also, he donates Rs 20,000 to the organization every month. He left home 2 months ago for Hijrah and prepared to go to the mountains by undergoing other training. But as the RAB operations continued in the mountains, he stayed for some time in several places including Chittagong and came to the Narayanganj signboard and was planning to migrate to the mountainous region through Roni. Jagannathpur police station in Sunamganj has an anti-terror case against him.
Khandaker Al Moin said, Md. Abu was involved in teaching at Online Sharia Graduation Institute. He was inspired to extremism by Rakib, a shura member and head of the finance department for one to one and a half years. He was an ‘A’ class financier of the organization. He gave 7 lakhs to Rakib 2 months ago for organizational activities. Also, he used to pay Rs 30,000 per month. He used to collect this money from various people by asking them to support his Shariah institutes, mosques, madrasas and orphanages. He left 1 month ago to go to the mountains. But as the expedition to the hills continues, he mobilizes through Roni to get to the hilly terrain through various tactics.
In the press conference, the RAB official also said that Roni Mia studied up to the 8th standard from a local school. Later he did mobile banking business in Narayanganj. He was inspired by the ideology of ‘Jamatul Ansar Fil Hindal Sharqiya’ 1 year ago through his childhood friend Al Amin alias Abdullah. On the orders of Alamin, he delivered Abu Bakr to Bandarban in the middle of last September. He was involved in the invitation activities of the organization and the activities of transporting the emigrant members to various places including Bandarban. Arrested John and Md. As Abu Saeed could not go to the hills, they resorted to Roni to reach the hilly areas by various tactics and converged at the signboard area of Narayanganj.
According to RAB, the intelligence wing of RAB, while monitoring the affairs of homeless youths in the past, got information that a young man named Abu Bakkar alias Riyasad Rayyan from Narayanganj went homeless last March. In this regard, his family made a GD in the concerned police station. Abu Bakr’s name is in the published list of 55 people. In a raid on November 3 last, RAB got important information about the women’s wing of the organization and learned that a mother was radicalized and had sent her child, who was radicalized, for training in the name of so-called Hijrat. Through the analysis and surveillance of information received by RAB, Ambia Sultana alias Emily, who was involved in sending her child in the name of so-called Hijrat for training, was rescued on November 5 and kept in close proximity to her family for the last 4 days in the process of bringing her back to normal life through de-radicalization. Emily used to work in a reputed airline.
It is known that through his son’s teacher Al-Amin, he and his son Abu Bakr joined the organization in early 2021 inspired by militancy. Later, Abu Bakr left home in the name of so-called Hijrat for training under the guidance of Al Amin in March this year and he never returned home. After other training, in the middle of last September, under the guidance of Al Amin, the arrested Roni brought Abu Bakr to Bandarban for training in the mountains. Emily knew the reason and location of her son’s disappearance, but it was a secret from the rest of the family, and Abu Bakr’s father resorted to law enforcement agencies to search for his son, including reporting his son’s disappearance to the police station. After Abu Bakr went to the mountain for training, he was shocked by the thought of the child and regretted his misunderstanding. Later, when the RAB members found him, they expressed interest in getting the child back and returning to normal life.
RAB kept Emily with her family for 4 days through the de-radicalization process to bring her back to normal life. At that time, according to the information given by him, RAB came to know about Rani and it was Rani who took her son Bakkar from home. Later, RAB stepped up intelligence surveillance to trace Rani and Rani was arrested last night.
