Dhaka Bureau: He arrived at Ever Care Hospital in the capital on Saturday (April 29) around 7:15 PM for a routine health check-up. Earlier, Khaleda Zia left Gulshan residence Feroza for the hospital around 5:30 p.m. BNP media wing member Shayrul Kabir Khan confirmed this.
Around nine o’clock in the night, one of the members of the BNP Chairperson’s medical team and BNP Vice-Chairman Dr. ZM Zahid Hossain, while talking to reporters outside the hospital, said that Khaleda Zia has been admitted to Evercare Hospital as per the decision of the medical board. Some of his tests were done today, and after some more tests in the next few days, the medical board will decide how long he will stay in the hospital.
Earlier, the former prime minister’s motorcade left for Evercare Hospital from Gulshan residence Feroza around 5:30 p.m. on Saturday and reached the hospital around 7:50 p.m. It is known that Khaleda Zia was in the car with her housekeeper, Fatema, and some relatives and personal officials.
Besides, Syeda Sharmila Rahman Sithi, wife of her younger son Arafat Rahman Koko, was also seen in the hospital with Khaleda Zia.
After getting the news that Khaleda Zia would be taken to the hospital, party leaders gathered in front of her residence in Gulshan on Friday afternoon. At noon, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, a member of the Standing Committee, Khandkar Mosharraf Hossain and Nazrul Islam Khan met Khaleda Zia at Feroza. Besides, the central leaders of the BNP were seen crowding in front of Ever Care Hospital in the afternoon on the news of Khaleda Zia being taken to the hospital. Later, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said, “She is going to the hospital; she needs treatment.” He is very sick. That is why he needs treatment abroad. Since the government is not providing it, he is being treated in the country itself. Everyone will pray for him.
Earlier this year, Khaleda Zia was taken to Evercare Hospital for a health check-up on February 27. This former prime minister has been suffering from various complications, including arthritis, diabetes, kidney, lung, and eye problems, for a long time. Khaleda Zia’s prison life began on February 8, 2018, when she was sentenced in a corruption case. When the Corona epidemic started in March 2020, the government suspended the sentence and released Khaleda Zia conditionally in view of the family’s request. Since then, he has been staying at Gulshan’s house.
