Dhaka Bureau: The Narayanganj City Corporation election is an example of fair and impartial voting in recent times. The voter turnout was 50 percent in the peaceful elections held last year. As a result, nearly a hundred controversial members of parliament are at risk of nomination in the next election. Clean and dedicated workers will get boat tickets instead.
According to Awami League leaders, only two candidates from the families of old candidates have received nominations in as many as 20 by-elections in the last three and a half years. The remaining 18 were new. This trend will continue in the next national parliamentary elections.

Meanwhile, Trinamool leaders and activists have been complaining for a long time that many of them did not set foot in the area after becoming MPs with boats. Some go once or twice a year, but after completing the government program, they come to Dhaka on the same day. Never set foot in the party office. They avoid grassroots activists.

In their opinion, only a boat can pass. Party leaders are not needed. That’s why he doesn’t have any contacts in the area. The party chief has also complained about such allegations several times in various meetings. For this reason, he has instructed several times to win the hearts of the voters along with building a clean image.

According to the sources, controversial members of parliament are being denied boat tickets in the 12th parliamentary elections. Central leaders, led by organizational secretaries, submit written reports of their organizational visits to the party chief. The local parliamentarians are also being questioned in the meeting of Trinamool leaders with the responsible leaders in Dhaka. Apart from this, the nomination of the parliamentarians who have fielded rebel candidates against the party candidates and worked against them in the local government elections will also be uncertain.

Presidium member Dr. Abdur Razzak said controversial people will not be given a chance. Transparent, clean ones will get priority. Abdur Rahman, a member of the presidium, said those whose actions and image are not positive will not be nominated. Those whose roles have embarrassed the party and the government will not be given the opportunity to go to parliament in the future.
