Dhaka Bureau: BNP Standing Committee member Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury said that it is clear that the Awami League will not hold general elections under a caretaker government. A fair election will make it difficult to find their collateral across the country. In addition, all misdeeds will be prosecuted.
He said these things at a discussion meeting of the Nationalist Cultural Party at Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) on Monday (March 20).
Khosru said that today they are using the administration to repress the opposition leaders and activists in every area of the country. Today, during a dictatorship in the country, the people have a soul connection with the leaders of the opposition alliances or parties that are elected. Today, at this critical moment, they have to come forward and play a leading role in the movement’s struggle.
He also said that apart from the movement of various political parties against the inefficient government in power, various social organizations and institutions of the country have become vocal against the government. In order to prevent them, the government is trying to divert attention by spreading various kinds of propaganda. This government is a master of spreading rumors. Their character is being manipulated to defeat the opponent. We see this constantly.
The BNP leader said that they (the government) are being forced to speak on behalf of the media to demonize them. On the other hand, the media is threatened if it speaks the truth about the country and the people. They have been showing fear to the public and the media constantly. Even today we have seen that the BNP is going to hold their organizational meetings in different areas, but the police are arresting them. The BNP is a banned organization. Can we do any organizational activities?
Under the chairmanship of National Cultural Party President Humayun Kabir Bepari, Dhaka Metropolitan South BNP convener Abdus Salam and the leaders and activists of the organizing organization were present.
