Dhaka Bureau: The Awami League has decided to hold a peace rally to counter the movement of the BNP and its allies. The party will hold peace rallies in cities and districts today (March 11) against the anti-government human chain.
It is known that the rulers have prepared for a large peace rally in both the north and south of Dhaka. The leaders of the party say that they are in the field to prevent possible anarchy and conflict-related violence around the movement program of the BNP and its allies and to protect the lives and property of the people. As always, on Saturday, the position will be announced on the streets through a peace rally.
At the same time, the leaders and workers of all levels of the party and allied organizations will be on alert. The High Command has ordered the leaders and activists to form an immediate resistance along with the law and order forces as soon as there is any danger of conflict during the anti-government human chain. The ruling party will not give the BNP any opportunity to create an unstable situation anywhere.
However, the policy makers of the Awami League are unwilling to accept this peace rally, even though it is called a ‘reciprocal program.
According to the leaders, the peace rally is being held as a part of the Awami League’s year-long organizational program in view of the upcoming national parliament elections. BNP is calling for a counter-program to color it.
No specific time has been fixed for the peace rally in the district and metropolis. The rallies will be held at the convenience of the concerned metropolis and district. Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader announced the peace rally program at a joint meeting of the party last Wednesday.
There will be separate peace rallies under the banner of Dhaka Metropolitan (North and South). Dhaka Metropolitan South Awami League will hold a peace rally in front of the party’s central office at Bangabandhu Avenue in the capital at 11 a.m.
On the other hand, Dhaka Metropolitan North Awami League’s peace rally will be held at 3 p.m. on the same day at the ground next to Banani Post Office in the capital. Central and metropolitan leaders of the Awami League will address both peace rallies.
