Dhaka Bureau: BNP Parliamentary Constituency MP Rumin Farhana said about looting and corruption in the power sector, although the quick rental agreement was signed with two years of indemnity, the matter has now gone on for 16 years. 90 thousand crores have been given to 12 companies.

At the time, he said, massive looting is taking place in the infrastructure sector. To build Dhaka-Bhanga-Mawa highway, 200 crore rupees have been spent per kilometer. Whereas in Europe, 30 crore rupees are spent on the construction of four-lane roads. Where so much money is looted, it is natural that there will be money laundering. He made this comment while standing on the point of order on Tuesday (November 1).

Quoting Prime Minister’s Power and Energy Adviser Toufiq Elahi, Rumin Farhana said, “Even during the war, we had nothing, yet we have left.” We still can, we still won’t use electricity during the day, because we don’t have money, our reserves have decreased a lot, we can’t say what lies ahead.

Rumin said, we realized that the country’s power system was deteriorating only when the power went out again and again on Fridays during this winter. Besides, it is clear from the speech of our Prime Minister that famine is coming. He is repeatedly warning to grow crops on every inch of land, reducing expenditure and increasing savings. It created a panic among the people. It should be understood that the situation is really bad.

He said, however, the government has three Nanda Ghoshes – one is Covid, two is the Ukraine-Russia war and three is the global recession, the government is putting all the blame on these three Nanda Ghoshes. He said that when the present government came to power in 2009, they knew that they would stay in power for term after term by canceling the caretaker government system. For this they have to establish some groups. Laws and regulations have to be made to please that group. BBC broadcasted the IMF report about Bangladesh Bangladesh is at risk like Sri Lanka, they consider this country as risky. A bad debt of one lakh taka lying in the bank. However, many think that it is three to three and a half lakh taka. He demanded to inform the government about it. Rumin complained that one bank has been handed over to one family by changing the banking law. After that Deputy Speaker Rumin requested Farhana to sit down, when he wanted to continue his speech Speaker turned off Rumin’s mic.
